Bake or broil element
Electric elements can split, blister or burn out after years of heat cycles.
How we test it
We look for damage and measure resistance on both elements.
Ranges & wall ovens
Gas or electric, freestanding range or built-in wall oven. When it won’t heat, heats unevenly or throws an error, we diagnose it in your kitchen and repair it with OEM parts.
Symptoms
The oven turns on but stays cold, or barely gets warm.
Recipes need extra time, or food burns at the set temperature.
Pans brown on one side or on the bottom only.
Steaks won’t sear because the upper heat source never kicks in.
A code like F2, F9 or E1 appears, and the oven shuts down.
A loose door, bent hinges or a lock stuck after self-clean.
Causes
Electric elements can split, blister or burn out after years of heat cycles.
How we test it
We look for damage and measure resistance on both elements.
A weak igniter can glow without opening the gas valve, so the burner never lights.
How we test it
With a clamp meter on the igniter circuit, we see whether it pulls enough amps to let gas through.
A drifting sensor or failing board gives wrong temperatures and error codes.
How we test it
We test the sensor against room-temperature values and check the relays on the control.

From a recent call: Great Southwest
GE gas range
Symptom: Oven wouldn’t light; burners on top worked fine.
What we did: Igniter glowed but drew too little current to open the valve. Replaced the igniter, then checked the flame and temperature.
Useful tips
Safety first. A gas odor means no lighting attempts at all. Turn the knobs off, get everyone outdoors and phone the gas company once you’re away from the house.
